Families and friends came out from all over Uxbridge to put their skates on at The Pavilions shopping centre over the Easter holidays.
The free pop-up roller rink brought back Disco for daily skating fun from Friday, 23rd March to Saturday, 7th April 2018.
Shoppers and fellow skating enthusiasts flocked to the centre where they put their skates on rolled back to the 80’s with the free family pop-up activity. By the end of the 2-week long event, over 2,000 skaters got their roll on and joined in on the fun.
The aim was for customers to be entertained during the school holidays and celebrate the start of Spring, plus have the opportunity to show their support towards Hillingdon Shopmobility by making a small donation that goes towards purchasing a brand-new mobility scooter.
“We were astounded by how many people opened their hearts towards Hillingdon Shopmobility and we thank the community of Uxbridge who helped us raise a fantastic collection of £1,600.” said The Pavilions Centre Manager, Aaron Bayliss.
“The launch of the Roller Rink, and partnership announcement with Hillingdon Shopmobility, included a dedicated hour to any disabled member of the community to access and enjoy the rink, and it was truly a great experience,” Aaron continued.
Hillingdon Shopmobility Operations Director, Sue Johnson, said: “We have met wonderful people during the campaign and Hillingdon Shopmobility is very grateful to The Pavilions shopping centre and the Roller Disco for their partnership.”
Hillingdon Shopmobility aims to provide freedom and independence to anyone with limited mobility, giving them greater access to Uxbridge Town Centre. This is achieved by providing manual and powered wheelchairs and powered scooters. “With thanks to The Pavilions shopping centre, we were able to purchase a brand-new mobility scooter,” said Sue.
