Whitehall Junior School is a large, vibrant school in the heart of Uxbridge, serving a wonderfully diverse local community, and we pride ourselves on our supportive and inclusive ethos which reflects our school’s values. It is our aim that every child leaves Whitehall Junior School as a confident, independent and enthusiastic learner, with strong personal aspirations and determination to succeed.
Our children are at the heart of all we do and our staff team work incredibly hard to help every child achieve the highest standards; both inside and outside of our classrooms; that they can during their time with us. We want our children to do their very best so that they are well prepared for the next stage in their education, ready to face their secondary school and the rapidly-changing world beyond.
At Whitehall Junior School, we view leading healthy and active lifestyles as a priority for our children and their families. A combination of Physical Education and PSHE ensures this aim is met. Through a broad and extensive curriculum, our children learn about the importance of a healthy balanced diet and a physically active lifestyle. For the last four years, our school has achieved the Gold School Games Mark.
There are plenty of opportunities for our children to participate in physical activity through the wide range of extracurricular sports clubs on offer. In Autumn Term alone, we have had 12 different sports clubs running where children take part in weekly training sessions with coaches and Whitehall staff.
Some of these clubs lead to the children competing against other schools in the district and borough. The inter-school competitions take the form of knock out tournaments that take place on a singular day and weekly league fixtures that run over a series of months. Our football and netball team have played half of their fixtures so far and will play the remaining matches in the Spring Term. We are extremely proud of how the children have played so far, particularly the football team who are currently unbeaten in the league. Each year we enter a wide range of competitions which enables a high number of our children to compete. The following are just some events we enter: gymnastics, cross country, athletics, swimming and rugby.
Our children have some of the best sporting role models, as many of our staff actively engage in different codes of sports, at competition level, which certainly enthuses some of our learners with sporting aspirations.
Whitehall Junior School would like to thank the Pavilions Shopping Centre for sponsoring us with some sportswear. The training tops provided look fantastic and our children cannot wait to wear them when them when the football and netball season resumes after Christmas. The new tops will ensure our children look like a professional unit at competitions and will undoubtedly elevate our team spirit even higher.
